BORN IN 1955, while I have dared to be "artist" from the earliest episodes of my life, always doodling, writing, organizing, interrogating, readying, doubting and preparing the way for a life not of deeds, but of exiled suppositions. However, there was always the question of purported priorities, qualifications and the everpresent distortions of the social machine. In my fifthieth year, I decided it was high time to exit the closet and go public...

After a series of calculated misadventures in which I worked briefly as a steelworker, a roofer, a cab driver, a retail clerk, a short order cook, a signmaker, a photolab technician, spotted around a decade as a land surveyor in the civil engineering field, I finally landed a coveted managing editor's position at a bi-weekly newspaper. Having always considered myself, first and foremost a scribe, this experience soon led to several publishing ventures in my Washington, DC, Capitol Hill community. In the early 1990s I won election to city office as ANC Commissioner. Enter the Internet where I quickly exploited that early technology in designing and building websites for myself and a few clients with mild measures of success and failure to spot the future. Still dissatisfied with the pace and pocket of my life, I turned to painting in February, 2005, having been wretchedly inspired after reading the recently published biographies of two 20th Century painters - Willem de Kooning and Larry Rivers.

At long last, life seemed to hint at promise again. Painting with literary purpose, so to speak, I was soon inspired to locate a publisher for my Collected Poems 1980-2005, which are available at Amazon, Borders Books, and Barnes & Noble. While busy working on several manuscripts for future publication, I have found that painting and integrated digital imaging soothes that ruthless and savage beast in my belly that writing only seems to agitate with the "what to leave in and what to leave out" synthetic always in play.

After a short stint in Wheeling, WV this past spring, I again reside in Washington, DC with my wife of twenty-plus years, and work from my new studio at 52 O Street, NW.
