Introduction to Bob Black
by Gabriel Thy

THERE'S NOT A WHOLE LOTTA STEAM I can blow back on Bob Black at this time, but the whistle's hanging around my neck like a best friend. I've never met the man. His stinging criticism and ultimate dismissal of most previous big name ideologies built on sand is quite encouraging. He is definitely one of the more rowdy players in this game of post-situ intrigue, and we take note of him as primary among a few others wrestling for distinction.

I may be way off base here, but I cannot help but to compare on some small scale Bob Black, the man and the myth, to that well-journeyed whacked out hacked off headblast, the rank irreversible but always jugular Hunter S. Thompson. This is not a critical comparison, merely a first raw impression.

Meanwhile, have a gander at this splendid Bob Black rant, The Abolition of Work, and below are a few Bob Black aphorisms against work. Cunning, but still a wee bit on the fantasy side of things. More brush for the bonfire. Until this BLACK day of zero work arrives, I both toil and toy...

NEED A SAVVY REASON TO QUIT YOUR JOB?
1. Women (men) think they can do all the jobs anyway, so let them.
2. The corporate legacy of your ancestors is too much to bear.
3. Why work for the other bloke, when you don't have to work at all?
4. It's worth more as a distant dream than a fighting reality.
5. You're dying of shame, and you don't even have dirty fingernails.
6. If you quit now, at least you won't get fired prematurely.
7. You heard someone once died at work, and many others have been injured.
8. Jobs? PLEASE, women and children first. That's ONLY polite!
9. You're overqualified. After all, they haven't fired you.
10. You really like that hot job across the street.
11. Nobody expects you to love your job forever.
12. There's no job like the one you'll get tomorrow.
13. The paper is full of jobs, so quitting must be popular.
14. You're ahead of your time. Downsizing is inevitable.
15. Your boss might mistreat you, or he might not, but let's not lead him into temptation.
